Customer needs, attitudes and behavioral instincts are considered within the overall design approach. Interior functional elements such as the unified counter, customized storage displays, in addition to the customized rotatable units, aid in showcasing beautifully crafted designs and therefore enhance the user experience. The salon is conjoined by two apartments within a residential building into one unique luxurious beauty lounge that resembles a modern-day apartment. An open plan approach has been adapted to the overall design, subtly segregating the main functional areas namely the manicure and pedicure area, hair-styling area, and manicure area. Interior architectural design elements consists of minimal material palette, such as limestone, MDF painted/upholstered panels, and corian. Nonetheless special customized interior architectural design feature is the custom made corian cladded manicure table with hidden exhaust and an attached sink to aid the nail technicians workflow. It is worth mentioning the hidden exhausts are also embedded in the ceiling on top of each hair-styling unit to limit the odor of hair-by products. Within the manicure and pedicure area, custom-made rotatable steel mirrors are an added playful feature within the design. GROSS BUILT AREA: 235 SQM PHOTO CREDITS: JOÃO MORGADO Shift is the first lagree studio in Kuwait located inside a busy commercial center. The interior architecture of this project takes inspiration from industrial architectural styles where raw aesthetics have been deployed into various aspects of the design. Exposed columns and portions of the ceiling defines this chic warehouse. Taking inspiration from the concept of incorporating a space within a space, the prime focus of this project is the bold confined structure where group fitness classes are conducted. This functional space consists of fixed and retractable bronze glass partitions flexible for user experience. A customized lighting design scheme is applied within the existing waffle slabs to add to the raw aesthetic of the space. The space also houses a private barre and lagree studio for one on one training sessions. Raw chipboard walls and rope covered bars along with the black framed mirrors define the minimal material palette in this studio. The same minimal aesthetic is followed in the changing area which features a customized floating corian sink and hanging black framed mirrors. The exposed waffle slabs sustained from the main area is replicated in the ceiling design of the changing area. This project is designed from demolishing four existing apartments of an entire floor within a residential complex. A holistic design approach is adapted through Japanese design principles in terms of a minimal material palette and overall simplicity. The interior architectural design concept is inspired by the curvaceous body forms integrated within the yoga practice while connecting to three factors: mind, body, and soul. Interior elements consist of bold curvaceous forms adapted into the ceiling and the walls, bronze tinted glass blocks, oak wood, exposed concrete, lavish use of greenery, and delicate earth tones. The design of the space is segregated into distinguished areas which accommodate the well being of the mind, body, and soul. For instance, the tea room is the representation of the mind. The sun room is the biggest studio which targets the body. The ceiling is custom designed to suit the function of the space by situating and embedding x-mounts cleverly for the use of aerial yoga. Whereas the moon room is the smaller studio targeting the emotional and spiritual self. The changing room area is an extension of the overall minimal design aesthetic with hidden frame-less toilet doors, corian communal sink, with off-white textured wall paint and linen curtains. The main concept of this café design is to create an indoor space that feels like the outdoors. Some of the key elements chosen to shape the interaction between the interior and the outdoors includes: the artificial skylight LED panels, the retractable windows and custom made burgundy corian bench seating as well as the trendy traventin mustard colored stone, MDF mustard colored wood, and backlit greenery surface create a sense of liveliness and brightness to the space interior. The orientation and layout of the space is simple and straightforward. The customer walks in and is directed to the counter. The base of the counter consists of walnut based wood and star shaped wood pieces attached to custom made rods. This gives a playful and natural element within the space. The back wall of the counter is a custom made bronze mirror frame to portray the illusion of the space being much bigger than it is in reality. In the back section of the café, poly carbonate sliding door act as a barrier towards the storage area. The back wall of the storage space is backlit surrounded by white painted walls. When looking from a distance, the viewer feels a sense of continuity. Nevertheless the added greenery in the back space area continues to give that outdoor / greenhouse effect, and also acts as a filter for any storage clutter. Furniture is simple and consists of natural oak wood with matte finished lacquer, and custom made tables with tied rope material around the bottom of the legs for a more natural aesthetic feel. The interior architecture of the café is inspired by the simple and minimal approach of Japanese design. The interior concept is focused on the combination of natural and raw elements in one space while maintaining a crisp-clean and subtle design. The interior color palette is monotone with hints of blush green. Curvaceous forms are imitated in multiple areas of the space such as seen of the shape of the counter, ceiling, and walls. This feature brings fluidity and coziness to the café. Other interior elements such as the banquette concrete bench seating with customized leather cushions add a casual style to the space. The irregular shaped oak wood tables and stools reflect a natural organic feel to the overall interior. In addition plants deck the walls of the indoor seating area to give off a fresh and lively sensation. This feature is crucial to have in a dry dessert climate like Kuwait.
